SUMMARY
「大河内メリヤス」は、1973年創業の日本のニットメーカー。世界を代表するデザイナーズブランドの製品を手掛けてきました。この度自社ブランドを立ち上げることになり、ブランディングからネーミング、Webサイト制作、ブランドムービーのクリエイティブディレクションなど、ブランド構築全般に携わりました。
BACKGROUND
イタリアの展示会に参加した時、NYのバイヤーから契約を持ちかけられたことが後押しとなり、自社ブランドを立ち上げることとなりました。最初から海外進出を見据えてのスタートです。
APPROACH
ブランド名の「ZEN」の由来は、日本人の思想や文化を表し日本のブランドであることを海外にアピールできること、また経営陣の一族の名前に「ぜん」が付く歴史から。ロゴマークは、ZにもNにも見える文字を編み模様のように組み合わせました。これは、大河内メリヤスのニットの代表的な柄であるブロッキングを表す形でもあります。
「上質な素材、立体的なテキスタイル、立体パターンで作られたリアルクローズをAll Made in Japanで提案する」というコンセプトのもと、Webサイトをはじめとするブランド全体が作られています。
製品の素晴らしさをより表現できるモデルの方をオーディションで選考し、福島県浄土平でフォト、ムービーを撮影しました。
スマートフォンでの再生に合わせ縦型の動画も制作。
サイト内のブランド名や文章は日本らしく縦書きも使用しています。
The brand name “ZEN” was chosen because it represents Japanese thought and culture and can appeal to people overseas as a Japanese brand, and because many of our managers and designers have “zen” in their names. The logo mark is a combination of letters that look like Z and N in a woven pattern. This shape also represents blocking, a typical pattern of Okochi Meriyasu knitwear.
The website and other aspects of the brand were created based on the concept of “This House label offers sweaters crafted with high-quality materials, three-dimensional textiles, and innovative patterns―all proudly made in Japan”.
We auditioned and selected models who could better express the excellence of our products, and shot photos and movies in Fukushima Prefecture.
Vertical videos were also created for playback on smartphones.
The brand name and text on the site are written vertically, just like in Japan.
